Editors – Formaldehyde
‘Formaldehyde’ is the second single to be taken from Editors’ fourth studio album ‘The Weight Of Your Love’, and is set for release on September 2nd. Moulding darker lyricism into stadium-filling indie-rock hits is turning into somewhat of a trend for the band, who returned to our ears earlier in the year after a four-year hiatus.
Rousing percussion opens this fast-paced love song, that somehow blends the clinical with a spontaneous and natural beauty. The eye-opening feature of the track is undoubtably its lyrical flare, but it’s also instrumentally superb. A moody bass riff underpins the piece, with frontman Tom Smith’s unique vocal rising emotively out of a haze of guitars. These guitar riffs are wonderfully nonchalant in sound, and provide great contrast against an intense rhythm and occasional sweeps of strings.
The track will be available in both 7″ and digital bundles, along with a very special acoustic version of recent single ‘A Ton Of Love’.
